Tamara Gonzales is a Finance Manager at Perkins Motors in Colorado Springs. She has worked in automotive since 2015 and joined Perkins Motors in September 2024. Her job is everything that happens after you choose a vehicle — reviewing and completing the paperwork, coordinating the financing and loan documents, handling trade-in payoffs, and making sure every number is right before you sign. She was born and raised in Germany and speaks German as well as English.

What Tamara can help you with

  • Understanding your financing and your loan documents line by line
  • Trade-in payoffs and equity — what you still owe and how it applies to your new vehicle
  • Vehicle protection options: extended warranties, maintenance plans, windshield protection, tire and wheel coverage, and key and dent protection
  • Anything that comes up after the sale. Paperwork questions, warranty questions, or getting connected to the right person
  • Financing conversations in German

Experience and training

Tamara started in the automotive industry in 2015 and has eleven years in the business, first in sales and then in finance. She joined Perkins Motors in September 2024.

In her words: “A great experience comes down to honesty, communication, and making sure customers feel comfortable every step of the way. Buying a vehicle is a big decision, and customers should feel confident in their purchase, understand their options, and know they have someone they can reach out to even after the sale.”

And on the part of her job she likes best: “One of my favorite parts of the job is helping people understand a process that can sometimes feel overwhelming. I’m a big believer that there are no silly questions when it comes to your money. I’ll take the time to explain things, be honest with you, and make sure you feel comfortable and confident before you leave my office.”

Questions Tamara gets asked

Do I really need an extended warranty?

“It really depends on the customer, the vehicle, and how long you plan to keep it. I like to explain what the different coverage options actually protect, what they don’t, and help you decide what makes the most sense for you. Whether it is an extended warranty, a maintenance plan, or protection for tires, wheels, windshields, keys, and dents, my goal is to make sure you understand your options and can make a decision you feel good about.”

Can I add an extended warranty after I buy my vehicle?

“Yes, in many cases you can. However, coverage options and pricing can change as your vehicle gets older and gains mileage, so it is always a good idea to explore your options sooner rather than later.”

Can I pay my loan off early?

“Absolutely. There is no penalty in the State of Colorado for paying your loan off early.”

What happens to my warranty if I sell or trade my vehicle?

“It depends on the type of coverage you have. Some warranties may be transferable, and some are eligible for cancellation and a prorated refund.”

Can I refinance my loan later?

“Yes. Refinancing may be an option down the road depending on your credit, your vehicle, and current interest rates.”

Colorado Springs connection

Tamara was born and raised in Germany and found her way to Colorado Springs through her husband, who was stationed at Fort Carson with the U.S. Army. She has been part of the Colorado Springs community since 2014. She says the thing that makes Perkins Motors different is the people: “We really do work as a team, and there is always someone willing to jump in and help when something comes up. It feels much more personal than just selling someone a car and sending them on their way.”

Outside the dealership

Outside of work, Tamara travels, collects Pokémon cards with her whole family, and spoils a Doberman puppy. She drives a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L with the V8 HEMI — “plenty of power while still being comfortable and luxurious” — and it is the family’s go-to for road trips with the dogs. And one thing customers do not expect: “I was born and raised in Germany, so yes, I speak German. I always love when I get the chance to meet a German-speaking customer and surprise them by switching languages.”
