Josh Merckx
Josh Merckx is the Operations Manager at Perkins Motors in Colorado Springs, overseeing day-to-day operations across the dealership. He has worked in the automotive industry since 2000 — more than 26 years — in sales, finance, used vehicle operations, dealership leadership, and automotive technology, and has returned to Perkins Motors four separate times across his career, first in 2003.
What Josh can help you with
- Finding the right vehicle through a needs analysis, in person or by phone, text, or email
- Structuring a purchase around your budget — trade value, down payment, rebates, rate, and term together rather than one number at a time
- Trade-in values and understanding how a vehicle was appraised
- Trucks, Jeeps, and vehicle capability — towing, payload, drivetrains, and configuration
- Anything that did not go as expected. Josh gets personally involved when a customer’s experience needs attention

Questions Josh gets asked
How do I know if I’m getting a fair value for my trade-in?
“We use trusted industry resources including Kelley Blue Book, J.D. Power, and Black Book, along with UVeye technology to help evaluate every trade. We consider your vehicle’s condition, mileage, equipment, history, and current market conditions. Most importantly, we share the information behind the value with you so you can understand what your vehicle is worth and make an informed decision.”
How do I know which vehicle is right for me?
“We start with what we call a Needs Analysis — a conversation designed to understand how you’ll use your vehicle, the features that are important to you, your budget, and your long-term ownership goals. This can be done in person, by phone, text, or email. From there, I can help you compare vehicles, trim levels, engines, technology, towing capabilities, and available options.”
Can you help me find a vehicle that fits my monthly budget?
“We’ll look at the entire transaction, not just the price of the vehicle. Your trade-in value, down payment, available rebates and incentives, financing options, lease options, interest rate, and term all affect your monthly payment. My goal is to explain those options clearly and help you find a vehicle and payment structure that fits without making the process complicated.”
What if I found the same vehicle advertised for less at another dealership?
“We are a market-based pricing dealership, so we regularly evaluate our vehicles against comparable vehicles in the marketplace. If you find a similar vehicle advertised for less, bring it to me and we’ll compare the offers side by side — equipment, rebates and incentives, dealer-installed options, fees, and any qualifications tied to the advertised price. My goal is to make sure you can decide based on the complete deal, not just an advertised number.”
Should I finance or lease? I’ve heard bad things about leasing.
“Leasing isn’t good or bad — it’s about what fits your needs. Financing may be better if you keep vehicles long term or drive a lot of miles. Leasing may offer lower payments, the ability to drive a newer vehicle more often, and more time under factory warranty. I’ll help you compare both so you can make the best decision for your situation.”
Colorado Springs connection
Josh met his wife, a Colorado Springs native, in college, and they moved here shortly after graduation. They have raised their family in Colorado Springs. He is involved with Academy Christian Church and Colorado Springs Christian Schools, has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America, and supports local organizations including The Salvation Army and Springs Rescue Mission. He has firsthand experience with Colorado mountain and high-altitude driving, winter conditions, towing, camping, off-roading, Jeep trails, and hunting and fishing trips.
Outside the dealership
Outside work Josh spends time with his family, particularly watching his kids compete in sports, and enjoys golf, travel, fishing, hunting, cooking, his dogs, and NFL and NHL games. His favorite vehicle he has owned was a 1976 Corvette with the L82 engine and a manual transmission. His Christian faith is an important part of who he is, and he says it reminds him to approach people with humility, gratitude, and honesty.
