Questions David gets asked

Is Perkins Motors still locally and family owned?

“Yes. Perkins Motors was founded in Colorado Springs in 1944 and remains family owned and operated. I represent the fourth generation of the Perkins family to lead the dealership.”

Why has Perkins Motors moved toward market-based pricing?

“The goal is to make buying a vehicle easier and more transparent. We want customers to see a competitive market-based price up front, reduce unnecessary back-and-forth, and make the process more respectful of their time.”

Does Perkins Motors only sell Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles?

“We are a Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep and Ram dealer. Our pre-owned inventory also includes vehicles from many different manufacturers, so customers can compare a much broader range of used vehicles in one place.”

Can Perkins Motors help with commercial, fleet or specialized vehicle needs?

“Yes. We work with commercial and fleet customers and have experience with trucks, work vehicles, ProMaster-based vehicles, and specialty-use programs. Our team can help identify the right configuration for the job rather than simply selling what happens to be on the lot.”

What should I do if I have feedback or a problem with my experience?

“Tell us. I would much rather hear about a concern and have the opportunity to address it than have a customer leave frustrated. Feedback, positive or negative, helps us improve, and accountability is part of being a locally owned dealership.”

Colorado Springs connection

Colorado Springs is home to both David’s family and the dealership. Perkins Motors has served the city since 1944, and he returned here after college in 2006 to join the family business. He serves on the board of Mayfield Counseling Centers. Through Perkins Motors he supports local organizations and events including the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and Colorado Springs Sports Corp partnerships, the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, and other Southern Colorado community initiatives.

Outside the dealership

On what makes a good experience: “A great automotive experience starts with listening to what the customer actually needs. It should be transparent, efficient, respectful of the customer’s time, and free of unnecessary pressure. The relationship should not end when the vehicle is delivered.” And on what he wishes more customers knew: “The best dealership relationship is a long-term one. Price matters, but so do clarity, follow-through, service after the sale, and having a local team that will still be here when you need help later.”
